Kristian Williams, author of Our Enemies in Blue: Police and Power in America, is coming to Denver to give a presentation on the history and social role of the police, especially in relation to racial inequality. He will outline the origins of the institution in antebellum slave patrols and the continuation of that legacy in stop-and-frisk tactics, zero-tolerance campaigns, and partnerships with federal immigration authorities.
Immidiately after Kristian Williams' presentation he will participate in discussion panel of local social justice activists.
