Email address ideas for real estate agents
Updated
A good agent email address is short, easy to say over a loud open house, and still makes sense if you change offices. Here are patterns that work, with examples on the Colorado city .co domains we offer, and how to choose between them.
Every example below is an illustration. Availability changes, so check whether it is still open on the home page before you plan around it.
Pattern 1: just your first name
The shortest, warmest option, and the one clients can write down without help.
Personal names cost $19 a month ($190 a year) in every city. First names are popular, so you may need a variation.
Pattern 2: first and last name together
More likely to be open, and clear on a card.
- [email protected]
- [email protected]
- [email protected] (a dot is fine, but people forget it, so test it on the phone)
Pattern 3: initial plus last name
Compact, but harder to say aloud. Readers can mix up the order.
Pattern 4: the category name
These are names like realtor@, homes@ or listings@. There is only one of each per city, which is part of why they cost more: 3x the city base, which is $147, $207 or $297 a month depending on the city.
The upside is that it says exactly what you do. The downside is the price, and that it is not you. If you want an address that travels with you as a personal brand, a name pattern is easier to keep. A category name is also something you may want to treat as a business asset, not a person, so decide before you print it on anything.
Pattern 5: name plus a role
Use sparingly. A role in the address is memorable until you change what you do.
Pattern 6: a team or office mailbox
If you run a small team, give the team an address and the agents their own.
- [email protected], for inquiries that anyone can pick up
- [email protected]
You can add forwarding addresses to a mailbox, so a team address can reach several inboxes.
Match the city to your market
The point of a city domain is that it says where you work. An agent in Summit County fits @breckenridge.co or @dillon.co. A Front Range agent has options like @littleton.co, @loveland.co, @broomfield.co and @arvada.co. Choose the town clients associate with you, not the one that happens to be open.
What to avoid
- Numbers. Birth years and house counts look like workarounds and invite typos.
- Cute words. "homesweethome" is hard to take seriously on a contract.
- Underscores and dashes. People forget where they go.
- Hard-to-spell surnames in full. Consider the first name if yours is tricky.
- Your brokerage's name. It will not follow you, and trademark rules may apply.
The phone test
Before you commit, read the address aloud as you would to a stranger at an open house. If they would have to ask you to repeat anything, simplify it. Then type it from memory the next day.
Putting the address to work
Once you pick one, use it in the same few places every time, so people see it often enough to remember it:
- Your business card and email signature
- Listing flyers and open house sign-in sheets
- Your Google profile and social bios
- Showing request forms and your website contact page
Consistency does more than cleverness here. An address that appears the same way everywhere gets copied correctly, and gets remembered.
Common questions
Can I change it later?
Yes, but every change means updating your cards, listings and accounts, so pick carefully the first time.
Should I use my name or a category name?
If you may change offices or build a personal brand, your name is the safer pick. If you want to own the obvious word for your trade in one town, a category name does that, at a higher price.
What to know before you buy
- You do not own the domain. We do, and you rent the address. Cancel, and the name is held for 90 days before release.
- Price is locked for 2 years from signup. You can cancel anytime.
- If you want your own brand domain with many staff seats, buying your own domain and using Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 is the better choice. Ours is for one agent or a small team who wants a short local address now.
